This little soup spoon has a lot of character.  It's a great companion for warming comfort food!

This stylish Japanese chirirenge, or 'renge' for short, is a traditional soup spoon with a distinctive shape.  Its deep, wide bowl and gently curved handle are said to resemble a fallen lotus petal (the literal meaning of the word chirirenge, 散蓮華).

Made from stainless steel with a tsuchime hammered finish, this version gives the familiar Japanese soup spoon a sleek, contemporary look.  The textured surface catches the light beautifully, while the slight groove along the top of the curved handle provides a comfortable grip.

The generous flat-bottomed bowl is perfect for enjoying rich ramen, udon and soba broths, as well as hot-pot dishes such as donabe.  Use it alongside chopsticks to gather noodles, toppings and soup together for a perfect mouthful - a little 'bowl within a bowl' if you like!

And because this one is made from metal rather than ceramic, there's no need to worry about chips or breakages.  It's durable, hygienic and easy to care for, making it a practical choice for everyday use and storage in the cutlery drawer.

A beautiful little piece of Japanese tableware that combines traditional design with the characterful texture of tsuchime metalwork.

The spoon measures approximately 16.5 cm (6½") in length and about 4cm (1½") across at the widest point.  The bowl of the spoon is about 1.3cm (½") deep and, when resting on its flat bottom, stands about 7cm(2¾") high.

Made in the Tsubame-Sanjo region of Japan.

Dishwasher safe, do not use in the microwave.
